DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — A 55-year-old woman has died following an overnight shooting at a home on Bean Oller Road, prompting a major law-enforcement investigation into what authorities are treating as a possible homicide.
Deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) were called to the residence shortly after midnight Friday after a man reported that someone had entered or been inside the home and shot his wife.
According to information provided in the 911 call, the man told dispatchers that he heard multiple gunshots before discovering that his wife had been shot in the eye. He also reported that a person had fled through the front door.
First responders arrived within minutes and found the woman suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment but later died from her injuries.
Authorities identified the victim as Tamela Dutcher.

As of noon Friday, no arrests had been announced.
Investigators have not released information about a possible suspect, motive or the circumstances that may have led to the shooting. Authorities have also not disclosed whether the person reportedly seen fleeing the residence has been identified.
