Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Campuses Placed on Secure Protocol After Threat at Colleyville Heritage High School

COLLEYVILLE, Texas — Several campuses in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District were placed under a precautionary Secure protocol Tuesday afternoon after a threat was reported at Colleyville Heritage High School, prompting a police investigation and additional security measures.

According to updates from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, the situation began shortly after 2:20 p.m., when Colleyville Heritage High School (CHHS) was placed in a Secure protocol as authorities conducted a precautionary investigation.

Under the district’s Secure procedure, students and staff remain inside their buildings and continue normal activities. Exterior doors are locked, and visitors are not permitted to enter the campuses.

The district initially announced that shuttle transportation to and from Colleyville Heritage High School would be suspended until further notice.

Threat Reported at High School

At approximately 2:40 p.m., the district provided additional information, stating that a threat had been called into CHHS.

The report prompted the school to remain in Secure while the Colleyville and Grapevine police departments responded to the campus and began investigating.

As a precaution, Heritage Elementary School, Heritage Middle School and the Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) were also placed in Secure. iUniversity Prep was included in the district’s earlier Secure notification.

District officials emphasized that the precautionary measures were intended to keep students and staff inside their buildings while law enforcement investigated.

Dismissal Procedures Announced

The district later announced staggered dismissal plans for several campuses.

At approximately 2:58 p.m., officials said dismissal was underway at Heritage Elementary. ECDC was scheduled to dismiss at 3:15 p.m., while Heritage Middle School was scheduled to dismiss at 3:35 p.m.

The district said additional police presence would be provided during dismissal as a precaution.

Colleyville Heritage High School remained in Secure as the investigation continued.

Police Investigating

Both the Colleyville Police Department and Grapevine Police Department responded to Colleyville Heritage High School following the reported threat.

Authorities have not indicated that an active threat was occurring at the school, and the district’s messaging has characterized the security measures as precautionary while the investigation is underway.

The district has continued providing updates to families and staff as information becomes available.

Parents and community members are being encouraged to rely on official district and law-enforcement communications rather than unverified information circulating online.

Investigation Continues

The incident temporarily affected normal operations at multiple campuses and led to additional police presence during dismissal.
